Flyby

Forgot to put this one up. Another little piece for Project: Foster, this time showing a concept of the planet's surface.

Though much of the planet will appear to be a homogenous ball of ice, I think there is room for diversity in environments within caves, lava tubes, and of course, the underwater ecosystems. Also, because Sero has dynamic geography, there could be huge crevices at fault lines, creating gigantic cliffs of ice, and exposing entrances to caves, and possibly, a creature's home...

I will get to those... some day.

Ruins

Well... Kind of. These are sketches for the next Gnomon Workshop subject: Temple Ruins. These were started from abstract splotches of color which I eventually twisted into something along the lines of the theme. I might keep sketching until I have an idea I like, or fits better, but I'll hopefully get around to finishing these up later (I obviously got a bit more involved on some of them already).

Funny how the bottom two left and middle have almost identical compositions. Guess that's what happens when you don't ever paint landscapes -___-

HoverRacer

Squeezed this one in just before the deadline. Still a few more things I would have liked to do to it... but I'm over it. Gotta move on to something else.

This one was scary working in so many colors... Hopefully if I keep doing this I'll someday know what I'm doing.

EDIT: Well, this won 4th place for the Gnomon contest. Not sure how I feel about that (not that I'm ungrateful or think it should have been ranked higher)... I just hope it isn't a "looks like you overworked your piece, but here's an 'A' for effort prize"...  I'll just try to loosen up next time.

Sci-fi Gladiator Process

Put together a little process animation from a piece I did earlier... The final image can be seen in full resolution here.

Creaturezzz

Last batch for a little while. Not quite as "pretty" as I had hoped, but I'm happy with these so far. I'm excited to explore them more and show off the homework work I've done in terms of how these creatures move and act around prey/predators, etc. I'm going to change the pace a bit and do some equipment. I'm thinking of some tech that will allow the explorers to see magnetic fields. Anyways, if you haven't checked out the rest of my Project: Foster works, go here!

All that hard work...

Paid off! My armor design was selected by Runic Games to be a collectable armor set in the upcoming game Torchlight II! It was announced today on Torchlight's new website.
After they finish the 3D models, they'll send me some shots of the final model that will be in the game.

UPDATE:
Here are some shots of my armor in the game. They had to make a few changes-- namely taking the horns off the side of the helmet to reduce clipping with the shoulder armor, and thigh armor was turned into a set of faulds around the waist. I'm very happy with their modifications and how closely they translated my concept into the game. I know individual pieces of my armor will look strange combined with others, but hopefully players will think it's cool (and powerful) enough to try to collect the full set.

Can't wait to see it in action!
I participated in Torchlight II's closed beta, and was thoroughly impressed with it. They're nuts for keeping the same price of $20 as their original game. But I won't complain.
It seems to me that the hype around Diablo III died down fairly quickly-- so here's hoping that Torchlight II has a strong debut.

Several more. The next batch will be a bit prettier, in contrast to these first few pages. Don't wanna set the tone that the whole planet is occupied by creepy crawlies...

Starting another page now. Hoping to get several pages done before going back and painting my favorites in.

Overdoing it.

I really shouldn't be spending so much time with these concepts... After I finish the female version, I'll start some creatures sketches and refrain from finishing them up anywhere close to this.

A little bit here and there...

Here's the first 'official' artwork for Project: Foster, a rendering of the planet the story takes place on/around, Sero 387c. It has two moons that may come into play in the story...

And here's my final entry into a contest held at Runic Games Forums-- to design an armor set for upcoming game, Torchlight II. The Crystalform Guard The winner will be announced shortly. I like to think I've got a chance, but I've since moved on to other things. Definitely a good learning piece, and I'll be throwing up more concepts here and there as practice. P.S. Sorry I haven't changed my banner since the reformatting... I'll get to it eventually...

Project: Foster

I have just finished starting a tumblr for Project: Foster, a sci-fi story/premise I gave myself nearly 2 years ago to inspire me to do concept art. Inetead, I gave myself a massive headache with the daunting task of creating an entire world, starting with the most minuscule organism, up to a greater sentience known as the Foster.

Please read, become involved, and help save me from myself!
